VITEK Mortgage Group is led by a seasoned team of professionals with backgrounds in real estate, commercial and residential lending, and project management.
Harry L. Duncan - President
In 1987 I co-founded VITEK Mortgage Group. As president, I am committed to making VITEK a place of excellence for both our employees and customers. We are one team with one vision – providing a remarkable home buying experience. As an agency direct mortgage banker, we originate and fund most residential home loans in-house. Headquartered in Sacramento, CA, I am proud of the growth we have experienced, expanding into numerous offices throughout Northern California, Nevada, and Washington. With approximately 150 employees, my focus has always been to make VITEK the lender of choice in the regions we serve.
Prior to starting VITEK, I held management positions with Home Savings of America (later became Washington Mutual), where I received the prestigious President’s Award for Outstanding Loan Production in multifamily lending. In addition, I hold an AB in Economics from the University of California, Berkley. My professional experience includes leadership in residential lending, income property financing, and management of small to mid-size companies.
I am a Sacramento native and am an avid outdoor enthusiast. In my free time I enjoy navigating the white waters of our great western rivers and cycling.
Philip J. Duncan - Executive Vice President
As twin brother of VITEK’s president, Harry Duncan, I joined VITEK in 1992 as a principal and leader in residential lending. As the company's first originator of home loans, my vision and expertise in sales and marketing have been instrumental in establishing VITEK with brand recognition in the regions we serve. Today, my focus is on providing exceptional marketing resources to our sales team, along with business development to support our growth initiatives, including builder, reverse mortgage, cultural and geographic diversity.
Prior to joining VITEK I was a top producer of home loans for many years. I began my lending career with Mason McDuffie/Weyerhaeuser, where I rose to Assistant Branch Manager. I then became co-owner at Criterion Mortgage Corporation before joining VITEK. In 2000 I was recognized as Sacramento Association of Realtors’® Affiliate of the Year. I currently serve on the boards of the Sales and Marketing Council for the North State Builder Industry Association and HomeAid where our mission to end homelessness.
In addition, I graduated from the Mortgage Bankers Association School of Mortgage Banking and I am a certified Toastmaster. I earned my BA from the University of California, Davis in International Relations/Political Economy. I also attended one year at the Universidad Compultense in Madrid, Spain and I am fluent in Spanish.
As a second-generation lender and native Sacramentan, I am actively committed to our community outreach projects, including HomeAid and Volunteers of America. Known as an outdoor adventurer, I enjoy spending my free time in the backcountry white water rafting.
Alan Wackman - Chief Operating Officer
Since 1992 I have been leading and managing many facets of the mortgage industry. As Chief Operating Officer, I currently oversee VITEK’s operations and secondary marketing. With my diverse industry experience, I am constantly working to improve VITEK's business designs.
I began my career with the Small Business Administration where I provided home loans to people in disaster areas across the United States. From there I joined Bank of America as an underwriter, and then VITEK as a top producing mortgage loan originator, where I stayed for over 9 years.
To further advance my career, I joined a small startup where I helped them build a successful mortgage company from the ground up. I remained there for 6 years as a manager, playing a significant role in facilitating the merger between them and another large Sacramento, CA mortgage company. Upon completion of the merger, I returned to VITEK as part of the Senior Management Team.
In addition to my lending background, I am part owner of a local family winery and a partner in my family's farming business. I am very active in the community, and enjoy working with youth sports, including being coach to my sons’ baseball teams. I enjoy staying active and spending time with my family water and snow skiing.
Denise Konigsfeld - Vice President of Production
I started my mortgage career 26 years ago in the Sacramento, CA region, where today I am still passionately supporting the community of customers, real estate agents and builders. The focus throughout my career has been to surround myself with a company and group of people whose mission is to create remarkable experiences for all involved.
For the first 12 years of my career I was a mortgage loan originator at National City Mortgage, where I built a successful team dedicated to serving buyers and builders of new home communities. I then went on to be a sales manager and eventually a branch manager. In 2008 I moved to Bank of America where I was a VP in their national sales force division and modification loan program. In 2012 I joined the vibrant and dedicated team at VITEK Mortgage Group, where today, I lead our mortgage loan originators in their personal and business growth. More importantly, I am intent on inspiring all to create relationships that are based on integrity, communication, and teamwork.
I believe buying a home is still one of the most prideful and important decisions one can make, and I've always felt honored to be a part of this process with our customers. I truly feel blessed every day with this as my purpose! On a personal note, I am happily married to my Cal Poly SLO sweetheart of 32 years and we have 3 wonderful children. We enjoy boating, Giants baseball and spending fun time with our extended families.
Kristie Harlan - Division Vice President of Operations
As Division Vice President of Operations I draw on my more than 35 years of experience in the lending industry to lead and inspire VITEK’s overall mortgage operations, including processing, underwriting and funding. I believe in the vision of making a positive work environment that ultimately provides our customers with superior service.
Growing up in the bay area, I chose to stay close to home for college, and graduated from California State University, Chico with a BA in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Fate stepped in and my first job in the industry was with Seafirst Mortgage. Over the next 5 years I learned all aspects of the lending business, including processing, funding, underwriting, loan origination and management. I then found myself in Sacramento, where I have spent the majority of my mortgage career.
For the next several years I managed the Correspondent Lending Division of CrossLand Mortgage. Meeting and networking with local talent here in Sacramento led me to assist opening a mortgage company in 2003 with Alan Wackman, who is now VITEK’s COO. The opportunity for me to join the VITEK team presented itself in 2014, and it has been a blessing each day working with this experienced team.
A 30 year resident of Folsom, CA, I enjoy spending family time with my husband Eric traveling in our motorhome and visiting with our five children, their spouses and our four grandchildren. I enjoy local day trips, cooking, reading and spending time with our two miniature Australian shepherds.
Tom Putnam - Vice President of Strategic Business Development
As Vice President of Strategic Business Development, I am focused on helping shape the future of the mortgage industry through legislative efforts, aligning business strategies with company goals and helping grow VITEK through business development efforts. In my more than 30 years of production/sales leadership, I have successfully helped local and national mortgage lenders develop sales teams generating $600M to $1.2B in annual loan volume.
My extensive experience working with sales teams, builders, MSAs, and multi-branch networks, has been instrumental in helping develop mortgage divisions from the ground up. I am committed to fostering a collaborative lending environment that offers superior service to our borrowers and business partners. Through community development and giving back, I am dedicated to seeing VITEK make a positive difference in the regions we serve.
In addition to my lending background, I hold a Masters Degree in Public/Private Management from UCLA. I have held various leadership positions with California lending associations, including former Chapter president of the California Association of Residential Lenders, and board member for the California Mortgage Bankers Association. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, grown children and close friends; participating in the political process; hiking in the Sierra Nevadas; and traveling to beautiful, natural landscapes and culturally-vibrant cities of the world.
Scott Battenburg - Chief Financial Officer
As a young United States Army paratrooper, the concept of team was driven into me hard. If an individual soldier succeeds, yet the squad as a whole doesn’t complete the mission, it’s a failure. There needs to be mutual support across all levels, and we win or lose together. That very same philosophy, which was instilled in me at a young age, has continued to shape me throughout my career as a leader. My focus has, and will always be, to do the right thing and what is best for VITEK, our employees and our business partners.
As an analytical person, finance has always been a natural fit for me, and I can truly say I love what I do. I find great fulfillment in helping companies discover new ways to be as viable as possible and achieve greater success.
I have held several senior management financial and operational positions with companies ranging from startup to Fortune 500. Starting my career in finance as a public accountant, I have been fortunate to work for several successful companies. A few of my most memorable roles were Director of Finance with LA Gear, Inc. and Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Razor USA. While with Razor USA, I implemented financial and operational systems to support their revenue growth of more than $200m in the first year of operation.
I graduated with honors from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance and accounting. Anyone who knows me knows I am a golf fanatic. I would play every day if I could! My wife Terri is my soul mate and best friend. She keeps me grounded and helps me strive to be a better person each day. At the end of the day, family will always be the most important thing in my life!
Greg Ekbom - Chief Information Officer
I've been managing technology processes and teams in a variety of environments for over 20 years. I'm a zealot for providing efficient, pragmatic technical solutions to business problems. As Chief Information Officer my goal is to provide VITEK a robust technological foundation to support our continued success, as well as leverage new technologies to enhance our ability to serve our customers.
My previous experience includes managing IT for a national wholesale lender, project management and production operations for a large mortgage servicer, building a residential property valuation Software as a Service platform for a technology startup, and managing online systems for a regional bank.
In my off hours I enjoy hanging out with my wife, reading, cooking, gardening, lifting heavy things, training in self-defense, geeking out on technology and laying on the couch with my dog Zeus.
Libby Feyh - Vice President of Human Resources
My greatest satisfaction and achievements in life come through supporting others and helping them realize their own dreams. So much so, that I have dedicated my career to learning about people’s passions and guiding them down a career path to fulfill them. Helping employees grow their careers through training and development has been my desire and the focus of my career over the past 20+ years. Through development and coaching, I strive to help employees realize their potential and drive their own success.
I believe our most valuable resource is our people, and creating a work environment that is productive, fun, and enriching is vital to VITEK’s growth and strength as an organization. Working closely with our leadership team, my focus is to create a company culture built around teams that are both dynamic and cohesive.
I hold a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Marketing from San Jose State University and have my SPHR-CA and SHRM-SCP certifications. It is very important to stay current in the world of HR, keeping up with laws and new developments. Our team works hard to do not only that, but to be on the forefront of business trends and make sure we remain relevant, not just compliant. We are HR specialists within a vibrant business!
It is my belief that we make the biggest difference when we become involved! Giving back to the community and becoming part of something bigger than we are helps shape us personally and can make a positive impact on those around us. My husband and I are both very active in the burn-survivor community and volunteer with various organizations including the Phoenix Society and their SOAR (Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery) program, and the Fire Fighters Burn Institute. We gain more than we give in working with these great organizations and the many people they support!
