Unsung Heroes: Mike Hobson – Helping Shape the Lincoln, CA Community

Thursday, April 7th, 2016

One of the great things about VITEK is our employees…many of whom are contributing to our community in big ways.

These ‘Unsung Heroes’ often go unnoticed for the positive impact they are making. We want that to change, so we are highlighting these special VITEKians and the organization(s) they serve.

As a company, we believe, beyond home loans our purpose is to make a positive difference in the community. VITEK Mortgage Loan Originator, Mike Hobson, has made this his personal mission as well. As President of Lincoln Community Foundation, Mike is helping to create positive change in the Lincoln, CA community. Through gifts and donations made to LCF, the organization is able to help invest in the community by supporting local non-profits. Gifts LCF receives are invested and the interest earned on those gifts is then turned into grants to help support local non-profit organizations and their projects.

Since 2005 Lincoln Community Foundation has granted $281,000 towards 175 projects to help grow and enhance the Lincoln community.1 The work of LCF not only helps benefit the community, but also helps organizations in need of financial support for various projects and initiatives.

As president of Lincoln Community Foundation, Mike is helping guide the organization’s direction and ensure proper stewardship of the gifts received. LCF is helping to support great local organizations, including Boy Scouts, KIWANIS, Veterans Coalition, schools, and much, much more.

Mike Hobson

“Most charitable dollars go to kids, critters, and diseases. The people leading those organizations and other focused charities do so with purpose and passion for their particular cause. The Lincoln Community Foundation is able to help support all those as well as the arts, civic improvement, scholarship and safety programs, and many more.”
Mike Hobson

How you can get involved:

To better serve the community, Lincoln Community Foundation is continually in need of financial gifts to grow their grant outreach. The non-profit support needs greatly outweigh the current resources available. If you would like to learn more about Lincoln Community Foundation, the work they are doing to support the community, and how you can get involved, please visit www.lincolncommunityfoundation.org.

We would love for you to share in the comments below ways that you are creating change in our community as well. Together we can #BeTheChange!

Unsung Heroes: Jen Barth and Camille Cochran – Impacting the lives of our youth

Tuesday, January 26th, 2016

One of the great things about VITEK is our employees…many of whom are contributing to our community in big ways.

These ‘Unsung Heroes’ often go unnoticed for the positive impact they are making. We want that to change, so we are highlighting these special VITEKians and the organization(s) they serve.

VITEK Mortgage Loan Originator, Jennifer Barth, and Administrative Assistant, Camille Cochran, together with their children, are actively serving in the South Sacramento, CA youth rehabilitation program, Always Knocking. Always Knocking’s mission is to “provide at-risk and incarcerated youth with resources, educational tools and experiences to make positive changes in their lives.”1

For the last few years, these awesome VITEKians have been providing mentoring, coaching and development to help teen girls set goals to develop a path to success.

VITEKians Serving Always Knocking

“Working with the teens at Always Knocking has impacted our lives in a positive way, giving us greater appreciation for the human spirit. The participants and leaders’ motivation inspire us. I believe with their confidence, dedication, and the support of Always Knocking, these teens can achieve greatness.”
Jennifer Barth & Camille Cochran

How you can get involved:

To better serve the community, Always Knocking is continually in need of donations, volunteers, financial support, food and supplies. Their after-school program is always in need of additional technology to support the student population that does not have access to technology at home. If you would like to learn more about Always Knocking and how you can get involved, please visit AlwaysKnocking.com.

We would love for you to share in the comments below ways that you are creating change in our community as well. Together we can #BeTheChange!

Making a Child’s Wish Come True

Monday, December 14th, 2015

For more than 10 years VITEK has been helping make a difference in the lives of the children at the Sacramento Children’s Home. Each Christmas season VITEK employees select a Wish Star of a child from the Children’s Home to purchase Christmas gifts for them.

This year, VITEK employees, once again, stepped up in a big way. Together, VITEKians helped provide $1000 in gift cards and fulfilled gift requests for 50 children in need. We are so proud to be part of our VITEK family, which is focused on making a difference in the community. Home loans are what we do – positively impacting lives is what we’re about.

Giving Back – HomeAid Volunteer Day

Wednesday, November 11th, 2015

At VITEK we are all about community. Beyond the loan business we are in the people business and we are focused on making a difference in the lives around us. We believe we have been blessed both as individuals and as a company and we are committed to giving back to those in need. The amazing thing about volunteering is that is doesn’t cost much – just time. The positive impacts to the community and to those involved, though, can be great!

Our California team recently had the opportunity to team up with HomeAid for a Saturday volunteer day. 30 VITEKians and family members volunteered to do various projects around the Teen Challenge Women’s Center in Lincoln, CA. At VITEK we are committed to providing shelter for all those in need.

Click on the image below to visit our Facebook page and see pictures from our volunteer day. Also, don’t forget to like our Facebook page so you can stay up-to-date on all of the things we are doing in the community. Together, we can be difference makers!
